With this visa you can employ overseas workers for a period of between one day and four years to complete specific contracts.
With this visa those people you employ from overseas can:
- Work in Australia for a period of between one day and four (4) years
- Bring any eligible secondary applicants with them to Australia – secondary applicants can work and study
- After entering Australia, have no limit on the number of times they travel in and out of Australia.
Eligibility
As an employee, you must meet all the following requirements:
- Be sponsored by an employer to fill a nominated position
- Have skills, qualifications, experience and an employment background which match those required for the position
- Demonstrated English language proficiency
- Be eligible for any relevant licences or registration required for the nominated position
Please note that dependents can be included in this application. The following people may apply to accompany and stay with you in Australia as secondary visa holders:
- Your partner
- Your dependent child or your partner's dependent child
- Your other dependent relatives or your partner's other dependent relatives
How to apply
There are 3 stages which you and the employer must complete to enable this visa to be finalized.

Stage 1: Sponsorship
- The Employer needs approval as a business sponsor.

Stage 2: Nomination
- The employer nominates a position that they would like to fill with an overseas employee.
- The employer will have to identify what position needs to be filled and include which skills and experience is required for the position:

Stage 3: Visa Application
- The final stage of this visa will require you to apply to enter and remain in Australia.
- You will also need to demonstrate that you have the appropriate skills that match the nominated position. Examples of evidence which may be requested to support your application include: certified qualifications, training and skills, employment references.
To Begin the Process
You will be required to register initially with our company at a cost of £50:00 + VAT after which we will email a personalised pack with the required forms and documentation to enable your application to be processed together with a costing for your application
Duration
The duration of the visa depends on the contact.
If you have an employee who wants to apply for a new visa (when their current visa is about to expire), the employee must lodge a new visa application.
From 14 September 2009, 457 visa holders who want to change sponsors or nominated positions (within the validity of their current visa) will not be required to apply for a new Subclass 457 visa.
